We all maintain so many areas of our life, but often we forget about ourselves.
If a wall started to crack in our house, we’d fix it before the house fell in on us. If our pipes cracked, we’d get the plumber in before the house flooded. If we didn't have petrol in our car, we'd fill up before we broke down.
We often see the signs, or feel the signs within our bodies, but ignore them until it's making a significant impact in our lives.
We can maintain the walls and the pipes.
We can stop to refuel.
We can care more, but worry less.
Preventing, rather than combating.
Eating for vitality, finding balance, learning, sustaining, and it’s so individual for every body.
Naturopathic medicine is a way to help the body heal itself by using things that come from Mamma Nature herself. As Naturopathy takes such a holistic view, it can be used successfully as a preventative health measure.
Working to support the mind, body and soul, naturopathy focuses on sustaining, nurturing, and assisting the person with optimal overall health. Due to this method, Naturopathy can lower the chances of disease and imbalance. Prevention is the goal, creating an environment that works harmoniously and healthily.
As Henry Lindlahr would say…
There are two principal methods of treating disease. One is the combative, the other preventative. The trend of modern medical research and practice in our great colleges and endowed research institutes is almost entirely along combative lines, while the individual, progressive physician learns to work more along the preventative lines.
At Organic Wholefoods, we encourage our staff to learn more about Naturopathy, Nutrition, or any type of holistic health therapies. We know that having knowledgeable staff is the best way to help you.
A Few Modalities of Natural Health
- FOOD:
Naturopaths believe (and many non-naturopaths) that food is one of the most important medicines. Naturopaths promote and encourage the consumption of organic food, which means food that is provided by nature – without sprays, pesticides, and nasty chemicals.
Eating a varied diet, that includes wholefoods (nothing from a packet that has a long list of ingredients such as… additive 26735, colouring 287, or stabiliser 27), organic food where possible, a good ratio of carbohydrates, fats & protein, but overall, it’s about balance. About treating your body to what’s good for you, eating intuitively and understanding what works for your body.
Food isn’t just about what you’re eating, it’s also herbs, teas, elixirs, ferments and so much more!
- AROMATHERAPY:
Aromatherapy uses essential oils derived from plants. Each essential oil has its own fragrance and chemical characteristics, resulting in different reactions to the body when inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Inhalation and skin absorption are the two most common methods in aromatherapy, using diffusers, sprays, baths, massage, and skin care products to allow for absorption by the body. Essential oils shouldn’t be consumed or used without being diluted.
Plus, you can use aromatherapy so easily in everyday life, in a diffuser at home, improving you and your family’s overall health.
- HYDROTHERAPY:
A big part of Naturopathy is water. It is an old method of treatment that is mostly used to keep people healthy, get rid of congestion inside, and can help to heal different kinds of diseases. Taking a dip in clean, cold, fresh water is very good for you, stimulating all your body's systems and tissues, improves mental clarity, can reduce pain, and improves circulation. This is your que to go get in that lake!
- REIKI & ENERGY HEALING:
Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan, created by Dr. Mikao Usui in the 20th century. “Rei” is defined as universal spirit, unlimited. It is the cosmic force of the universe. “Ki” is defined as a life force or energy and applies to the physical principle of life as we know it.
It is believed that there is a life force energy which runs through the human body, Reiki assists in restoring and balancing this energy. When practicing Reiki, the practitioner is simply a medium for this energy.
Reiki can be used to assist many aspects of overall health. It has been found to assist in treating pain, anxiety, fatigue, depression, relaxation, insomnia, tensions, and headaches.
