Smudge sticks are bundles of herbs that have been used for centuries to cleanse a person, space or object of negative energy. The practice is said to go back thousands of years and is still popular today. 

Sage can clear up to 94% of airborne bacteria in a space and disinfect the air. It offers both rapid delivery to the brain and efficient absorption to the body. When sage is burned it releases negative ions, which has been linked to enhancing a positive mood. The Latin word for sage, 'salvia', stems form the word 'heal'. Other qualities believed to be associated with sage when burned are giving wisdom, clarity, and increasing spiritual awareness.

Hold the sage at a 45-degree angle, light it and let it burn for about 20 seconds. Gently blow out the flame so that you see orange embers on the lit end. Slowly walk around your space and allow the smoke to waft around. Guide the smoke (and negative energy) towards an open window or a door so it can escape.
